First Step to Service is a diocesan-wide service learning opportunity for Catholic Schools sponsored by Catholic Charities during the month of October—the month designated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as “Respect Life Month.”
We hope that all of the schools in the Diocese will be willing to participate in this project.
Teachers will have a “Respect Life” worksheet available to them to use anytime during the month of October to help students understand what it means to respect life and what Catholic Charities does in the community to affirm life. Teachers / schools are also urged to take one or more baby bottles for the school to fill with change and return it to our office by October 29. The school that raises the most money will win a prize.
All funds raised support Catholic Charities’ First Step Programs, which provide food, clothing, diapers and other “baby essentials” to the low-income pregnant women and families served by our Catholic Charities agencies across the diocese.
If you would like to participate in the 2017 First Step to Service Program, CLICK HERE for the participation form. Please return the participation form by September 11, 2017.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Nikole Kelley at 330-744-8451, ext. 323 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for helping our Catholic school students learn the value and importance of respecting life through service to the less fortunate in our communities.
