Stephanie’s Story

“Stephanie” and her six month-old son, “Nathan,” had just fled their abusive home.  Stephanie was covered in bruises and felt hopeless.  She did not have any money or a place to live.  She wondered how she was going to care for Nathan.  Stephanie did not report her abuser’s crimes because she was afraid for her life.

A friend suggested she call Catholic Charities.

Stephanie met with a case worker, and Catholic Charities was able to provide food, shelter and a caring environment for Stephanie and Nathan.  With help from Catholic Charities, Stephanie was able to find a job and a place to live  so she could care for Nathan in a safe environment.  Catholic Charities provided the mother and son with the help and hope they needed to escape their violent situation and begin a positive new life.  This year, thanks to Catholic Charities, Stephanie is going to enjoy a safe and well deserved “Happy Mother’s Day!”
