Rev. John-Michael Lavelle is the Director of Advancement for Catholic Charities and the Director of the Annual Bishop’s Appeal for Catholic Charities and Church. Prior to joining the diocesan staff, Father Lavelle served six years on the board of directors for Catholic Charities of Portage County. For him, Catholic Charities is “a true manifestation of the light of Christ in a world where so many are living in darkness.”
As Director of Advancement, Father Lavelle will manage the Bishop’s Appeal for Catholic Charities and Church, the creation of entrepeneurship programs, and the strengthening of relationships between Catholic Charities and the parishes and schools of the diocese.
Father Lavelle earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Master’s degrees in Divinity and Religious Education, and a Doctorate in Ministry.
In addition to his role with Catholic Charities, Father Lavelle serves as the pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Niles.
He enjoys reading, watching historically-based material (primarily on presidential history), and cooking.
